Results shown are from representative rabbits from each experimental group, with the specific experimental group indicated below each panel. Analysis is based on results observed after 84 days. Right: The amount of scaffold remaining at the surgical site was calculated by comparison to control scaffolds prior to implantation. Results shown are the average ± the standard error of the mean for each experimental group. Asterisk indicates a statistically significant difference by comparison to the uninfected control group that obtained PBS-saturated scaffold (Group 3).
