Abstract
Heinrich Scholz (1884–1956) was a German Protestant theologian, philosopher and logician who established the study of logic as an independent subject by founding Germany’s first research institute for logic, in Munster. Since he also contributed to the historiography of logic, he was well acquainted with the work of Paul Hertz and Gerhard Gentzen. (For further information on Scholz cf. Peckhaus, V. (2018). Heinrich Scholz. In: The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. Ed. by E. N. Zalta. Fall 2018. Metaphysics Research Lab, Stanford University. url: https://plato.stanford.edu/archives/fall2018/entries/scholz/..) In the letter that we reproduce here, he points out what he regards as a close relationship between Popper’s work and the work of Hertz.
