Abstract
The goal of this chapter is to outline how to perform a numerical simulation of a brain region defined from structural MR images. To address this challenge, we first demonstrate how to generate a high quality mesh of a brain hemisphere from T1-weighted MR images using the tools introduced in Chapter 2. Next, we show how to define a finite element discretization of the diffusion equation (1.1) over this mesh to simulate the influx of an injected tracer.
