Abstract
Part I, Fundamentals and derivations, starts with Chapter 2, where mathematical basics that are elementary for the understanding of the content of the book as well as conventions are discussed. Its content covers a description of scalars, vectors and tensors and their mathematical combinations as well as Euler’s and Lagrange’s perspective on a problem. Some basics of functional analysis are described in the context of kinematics. Chapter 2 ends with fluid mechanical terminology.
