Zusammenfassung
Ausgelöst vor allem durch George Edward Moores 1903 erschienenes Buch Principia Ethica verdichten sich Diskussionen über die Interpretation der moralischen Sprache und die Grundlagen ethischen Denkens zu einer eigenen Subdisziplin der Moralphilosophie, die als Metaethik bezeichnet wird. Die im Rahmen der Metaethik diskutierten Fragen und Probleme sind nicht grundsätzlich neu, sondern wurden zuvor vielfach im Kontext der allgemeinen Moralphilosophie mitdiskutiert. Durch die Anwendung von Methoden der sprachanalytischen Philosophie erhalten sie jedoch neue Prägnanz.
