Abstract

Panama is the southernmost country of Central America. Situated on the isthmus connecting North and South America, it is bordered by Costa Rica to the west, Colombia to the southeast, the Caribbean to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south. It covers 74.3 thousand of square kilometers and has a population of 3.57 million. Its GDP reaches $26.78 billion in 2011. Through the index system and evaluation model, the environment competitiveness index of Panama s ranks at 23 in 133 countries.
